We have three levels here at the forge, to give students and teachers a shorthand.

Why does the forge have tiers?

We use tiers as a way for students and teachers to identify what type of class and how difficult that class can be based on the skill sets listed below. We want to make sure we keep a rotation of all the levels and open tier classes available for students to train.

Tiers

  • Tier 1 - Beginners - All the basics of on-camera acting can be found at Tier 1

  • Tier 2 - Intermediate - This is most people! Tier two is a wide tier, ranging from folks who are off the bunny slope, but definitely not ready for black diamonds. Work through techniques and muscle through some skills before jumping off the deep end in tier three.

  • Tier 3 - Advanced/Professionals - Folks who are auditioning for network television and lead roles regularly, and booking. SAG actors with recent credits, students invited by Tier 3 teachers, MFA graduates, and other prerequisites are great indicators of Tier 3.

  • Open Tier - Anyone, of any ability level, is welcome to take open-tier classes. Teachers will push you at your own level.

How do I move between tiers?

If you have questions about which tier you should be in, you can take our quiz! We'll get back in touch with you with recommendations. You can ask your teachers if you're ready for a more advanced class, or get in touch with our teacher, and we can

What if I sign up for a class I'm not ready for?

We'll have to check the policies, but usually, you're responsible for every ticket you purchase. If you sign up for an advanced sky-diving course, get there, and the pilot decides you're not ready, you don't get your money back. Your teachers can remove you from a class if you're not ready, so make sure to check with us if you're unsure about your levels before enrolling in a class. If it's possible to give you credit, or a partial refund, we'll do our best!
